Rev Abbé Christian Philippe Chanut, Chaplain of our Order, Almoner of France at the Memorial of Saint Denis has died at the age of 65

 

The Rev Abbé Christian Philippe Chanut, Chaplain of our Order, Almoner of France at the Memorial of Saint Denis has died on the 17th August at the age of 65, after a long illness bravely born.  Abbé Chanut was a pillar of the French legitimist movement, close to the late Prince Alphonse de Bourbon, Duke of Anjou and Cadiz, at whose memorial Mass at the Basilica of Saint Denis he gave the homily, as he did on the occasion of the interment of the heart of King Louis XVII in June 2000.

 He was a doctor of theology and was for twenty-two years parish priest of the church of Saulx-les-Chartreux (diocese of Evry), and then of Milly-la-Forêt where his funeral will be held on 22nd August.
