H.E. THE MOST REV. GIOVANNI TONUCCI PROMOTED TO THE GRAND CROSS OF MERIT

The Most Reverend Monsignor Giovanni Tonucci

His Excellency the Most Reverend Giovanni Tonucci, who was appointed a Chaplain of Merit in 1981 has been promoted to Grand Cross of Merit on 15 February 2008.

His Excellency has served as Papal Nuncio first in Bolivia, then Kenya and most recently  in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Norway, and as Permanent Observer to the United Nations  Environment and Human Settlements Programs.

On 18 October 2007 he was appointed Prelate of the Territorial Prelature of Loreto and Pontifical Delegate for the Shrine of the Holy House of Loreto.

He is the author of several books, including God's letter to me – 101 questions and answers on the Bible and Visioni di un pellegrino. Le foto di Mzee Mwenda. Edited in Italian and English, Velar, 2006.
